First, if you want to express you have known his/her problems from other people, you should use"hear of" or "hear about".
Second,now that you know you should not use "the " when you refer to her/his first problem, then why you keep using"the" in another two sentences?
Third, when you want to make a suggestion, you can use"why don't you do sth?" or "why not do sth?" For the second, we ususally leave the word "you" out.
